Discount Calculator

Find the sale price and dollars saved from an original price and a percent off, or from a dollar amount off. You can also start from the sale price and the percent off to solve for the original price. An optional second coupon applies in order: the first percent comes off the original price, then the second percent comes off the reduced price. Sales tax is not included. The math runs in your browser.

What do you want to calculate?

Price before the discount. Must be greater than zero.

Example: 20% off $80 is $16 off, $64 sale.

Applied after the first discount, to the reduced price. Leave blank to skip.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a discount?

Discount equals the original price times the percent divided by 100, and the sale price is the original minus that discount. For example, 20% off $80 is $16 off and a $64 sale price.

Can I solve for the original price?

Yes. Original price equals the sale price divided by (1 minus the percent divided by 100). A $64 sale after 20% off started at $80.

What about stacked coupons?

Apply them in order. The first percent comes off the original price, then the second percent comes off the reduced price. They are not added together into one percent first.

Does this include sales tax?

No. Tax is added at checkout and is not part of this discount math.

Is this the same as the percentage calculator?

The math is related, but this page is for a sale price and dollars saved, including a dollar-off mode and a second coupon. The percentage calculator is for general percent-of and percent-change problems.
